How these collections work. A property earns a tag when it carries a specific provider facility id or falls within the bottom or top 20% of nightly rates in its destination. No editorial judgment, no hand-curation — every tag traces to a confirmed id or a relative price threshold. A collection with zero properties is absent from this page. On-site golf (course at the property) and nearby golf (accessible but off-grounds) are tracked separately; folding them together would mislead a golfer who needs a course at the hotel.

How collections are derived

Facility-based collections (Golf, Spa, Pool, Accessible) are derived from provider facility ids. RouteStack publishes a facility list per property with numeric ids per amenity. We map those ids to a collection tag using a public rules table in app/services/collections.py. Adding a new provider requires one mapping entry in that table and zero logic changes elsewhere.

Price collections (Budget, Luxury) are computed from the live nightly rate distribution within each destination. Budget = bottom 20th percentile; luxury = top 20th percentile. There is no absolute dollar threshold because a $150 night is cheap in Manhattan and expensive in Gulf Shores.

The on-site vs nearby golf distinction is the sharpest example of why precision matters. RouteStack id 102 (“Golfing nearby”) and id 2617 (“Golf course on site”) are different claims. Folding them together would send a golfer expecting a course to a property that only mentions a nearby course. This site publishes both as separate collections with separate counts.
